The mission of the Nightingale Policy Institute is to showcase the expertise of experienced policy nurses in the development of health, public, and organizational policy to effect positive change.

 Our Goals

We seek to create an environment for a rational debate about health care issues by using the collective experience of a significant network of nurse leaders who can potentially put a human face on the health care debate.

We desire to engage and mentor a new group of nurse policy professionals to meet future challenges.

We plan to educate a broad base of health care professionals about the policy and political processes that govern their practice and their patient’s wellness.

 Our Methods

• Provide a resource for finding nurse experts on a wide range of health and other public policy topics
• Assist in defining the problems that present barriers to patient and community wellness and offer expertise on innovative solutions to enhance the delivery of culturally appropriate health care interventions
• Partner with consumers, law firms, the media, opinion leaders, universities, foundations, industry and other players in the health care arena
• Evaluate nursing curricula for strategic policy content
• Organize web based dialogues and networks for nurses
• Explore future issue summits and seminars
• Devise a formalized mentoring program
