Pat Ford-Roegner, RN, MSW, FAAN started her nursing career as an oncology nurse at what is now the Foxchase Cancer Center in Philadelphia; then established two programs in Atlanta -- one to develop hospital protocols for the treatment of rape/domestic abuse survivors, and the second to bring nurse practitioner-run primary health care to the state women's correctional programs. Governmental affairs work has been a consistent theme in her career. Pat worked for a national health coalition for national health insurance, and was senior staff person at American Nurses Association. While at ANA she created "Congressional District Coordinators Project,” linking a nurse to each member of Congress and initiated the "ANA Policy Briefing Breakfasts," open to all women's organizations. Speakers were Senator George Mitchell, Senator John McCain, and members of the Executive Branch. Pat spent much of the second half of her career in executive management positions and political advocacy work. She led “Nurses and Health Professionals for the Clinton/Gore Campaign.” In 1993, President Clinton appointed her to the largest HHS regional office (Atlanta, Region IV) as the Senior Executive. Region IV was the first region to implement the Childrens' Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Office of Women’s Health. Since 2001Pat has continued in Executive Management and Policy positions. rproegner@mindspring.com, 202-496-9660
